The results of the data collection of the first quarter of the year by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration were good news for Baleares.
Baleares, Asturias and País Vasco have their economic deficit under control.
This means that these municipalities have spent less then what they have earned.
The islands are now among the few municipalities who are controlling their spending. Nevertheless, this may change. The data is from the first quarter, and traditionally the local government collects most of its payments in the last quarter and the deficit may appear in the final report of the year.
On the other hand, the municipalities with the worst deficits are Extremadura, Cataluña, Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha.
