About Bens d’Avall
This family-owned-and-run restaurant has been making its customers happy for more than 40 years – despite being in an off-the-beaten-track location on the north coast of Mallorca. Sóller-born chef Benet Vicens is at the helm, and his culinary team includes his talented young son Jaume. Benet’s wife Catalina Cifre manages front of house with a warm level of hospitality. The restaurant opens for lunch only at certain times during the year, but for lunch and dinner in the main season (with some exceptions).
Bens d’Avall is a gastronomic restaurant, offering cuisine that is lovingly made from the region’s high-quality seasonal produce of the region. You’ll find few foreign ingredients in the tasty dishes produced here, because Benet and Jaume are passionate about using local products – not only to create delicious ‘new Balearic’ cuisine, but also to support local food producers and sellers.
Diners can eat indoors in the smart dining room, but most prefer the sensory experience of eating at a table on the beautiful recently enhanced terrace, where you enjoy Instagram-worthy views and the sound of birds on the wing.
As the kitchen uses fresh seasonal ingredients, the gastronomic tasting menu changes every month. The following are examples of dishes that have appeared on the Bens d’Avall menu:
Local prawn carpaccio, strawberries, avocado, radish, lemon and pine nuts
Naturally cooked lobster, rabbit loin, dates, rhubarb, and almond cream
‘Vermella’ Menorcan veal with creamy rice from Sa Pobla with Menorcan cheese and parsnip, small leeks from Montuiri and Bàrbara Mesquida red wine sauce
‘Es Barranc de Biniaraix’-inspired dessert: cherry, blackberry, spices, caramel, and flowers.
Located on the north coast of Mallorca, Bens d’Avall has one of the most beautiful settings of any coastal restaurant on the island. It is somewhat hidden away, at the end of a signposted access road off the main Deià to Sóller coast road. You eventually arrive at this hidden gem of a restaurant, where parking space is plentiful. The spectacular elevated views make this place perfect for watching an unforgettable sunset as you eat dinner al fresco in summer.
