About Chez Camille
Despite the French name, this restaurant and champagne bar on the edge of La Lonja, Palma de Mallorca, – is Swedish-owned – and part of the group that owns restaurant La Paloma and wine-and-tapas-bar Wineing, also in La Lonja.
The premises were formerly the home of McGowan’s Irish pub, just off the Borne, but you wouldn’t know it today: the décor is now eclectic mix of rustic and modern.
Chez Camille Cuisine
Formerly specialised in oysters and champagne, now it’s also becoming known for its succulent flavourful meats, slow-cooked on a Monolith Kamado grill.
The cooking concept dates back some five thousand years, to the Far East and is growing in popularity because even after many hours of cooking, meat comes out tender and without losing any juiciness. There are a wide range of meat options to try including belly pork, beef ribs (cooked for 16 hours), lamb on skewers, chicken, ox meat, and pulled pork – all full of flavour. Even when the outside of the meat is properly caramelised it remains juicy within.
The kamado grill works well for cooking fish too, so if you are not a big meat fan you can savour delicious salmon and scallops dishes at Chez Camille.
There are some innovative desserts to try also – moreish mojito ice cream, a crème brûlée, strawberry tiramisu, an oozing chocolate coulant with vanilla ice cream, and an excellent apple tart.
Chez Camille continues to offer oysters and a good choice of champagnes and cavas, but it’s for its Kamado-cooked meats that makes dinning in this restaurant a memorable experience.
The décor was recently updated and is now a cosy eclectic style which invites you to relax and unwind in the pleasant surroundings and enjoy the buzzy atmosphere and the great food and drinks.
There are three separate rooms – the main part of the restaurant with the bar and entrance, and two bright and airy rooms which offers more privacy and quieter in addition to a bar area upstairs.
