The monumental nativity scene of the Convent of the Caputxines is the oldest nativity scene on the island. It is located in Palma de Mallorca and was declared cultural heritage. The standard commemorations

New Year’s Eve is also the day that Palma celebrates the commemoration of the Christian Conquest of the city by King Jaume 1 on December 31st, 1229. Events begin with the raising of the Royal Standard and the Cimera del Rei Marti in Placa de Cort at 10a.m. At noon a horseriding display is performed.

Arrival of the three kings

The eve of Epiphany is when the Three Kings traditionally deliver gifts to children in Spain. Every year the arrival is re-enacted with exotic processions and gift-giving in towns and villages across Mallorca. Thousands of spectators line the streets of Palma to see the Three Kings pass by.

Every year people take to the streets for ‘torrades’ or bbq’s, and sing traditional songs about this saint. On the next day the animals are being blessed by the local priests.
