The New Independent Film Network in Spain
Cinearte, the independent film network association, was recently established this month of Novemeber in Seville, under the SEFF Festival, with the participation of 10 showrooms and many other groups that promote the reopening of cinemas throughout Spain.
This new film association promotes the arts in cinematography which is attracting new audiences with the intention of promoting film education and represents the importance of cinema in Spain today. Cinearte is the new platform for Arthouse films, as well as new and emerging directors and actors who are struggling to compete with commercial cinema.
Formed by the support of cinemas consisting of CineCiutat in Palma de Mallorca, Souk Majadahonda Cinemas in Madrid and CineBaix in Sant Feliu de Llobregat and includes screening rooms in Girona Cinemas, Cinema Maldá and Zumzeig Cinema in Barcelona, Cinema Truffaut in Girona, Quintero Pathé Cinema in Seville, El Septimo Oficio and Las Rozas in Madrid and Cine Duplex of Ferrol, Cinearte plans to serve as a powerhouse for all things independent cinema.
The board which is currently provisional pending a constituent assembly is held consists of representatives that include Pedro Barbadillo representing CineCiutat in Palma as chairman; Javier Asenjo representing Cinemas Souk Majadahonda in Madrid as Vice President, Laura Garcia representing Cinema Pathe Quintero, Sevilla as treasurer, and Christian Gomez representing Cinema Truffaut, Girona as treasurer.
