Portocolom has retained much of its original fishing village charm, and also boasts some good places to eat – of which this is considered one of the best (and most expensive). Modern art, a splendid bull sculpture, stone walls, dark ceiling, candlelight, and the cosy fireplace lounge make this an atmospheric place to dine. Shaded terrace tables at the front have views across the road to the harbour. Austrian chef/patron Dieter Sögner once worked at Munich’s two-Michelin-starred Tantris, and the renowned Hotel Adlon in Berlin.
Spanish, English & German
After moving to Mallorca, he opened the sophisticated Colón in 1999, where his creative Mediterranean cuisine is based on seasonal ingredients. Open all day except Wednesdays (and evenings only in August), there’s a lunchtime classic dish each day of the week. The à la carte menu changes regularly and includes good fish and meat dishes, with a choice of European cheeses and desserts.
Accompany your meal with something from the impressive list of quality Spanish and international wines. Combined with the décor, setting, and attentive service, it all adds up to an appealing place – particularly suitable for celebratory occasions.
