The premiere of the first-ever musical about Mallorca took place in Sala Augusta, near Plaza España. It is the first musical to be performed in the same season in three languages (English, Spanish and German) by a multilingual cast.
The Sala Augusta in Palma was packed to full capacity for the gala premiere performance of El tren de Sóller, the Mallorca musical, directed by Pedro Victory and written by Emmy-nominated German composer Klaus Hillebrecht.
“It’s a big effort and an even bigger gamble, which we hope will be a hit with the local population and international visitors too,” Pedro Victory said on Friday night, before the the first performance which was in Spanish.
Fernando Gilet, Minister for Culture and Sport; Nuria Riera Martos, Special Government Advisor for Public Administration; Pedro Barbadillo, Mallorca Film Commission director; the designer Cat Sorell, singer Lorena Ares, the choreographer Laura Macias and Toni Bestard, film director, were some of the guests walking down the red carpet at Augusta.
‘El tren de Sóller’ is a romantic comedy, a love story woven into a funny and light-hearted celebration of life in Mallorca, which you will be able to enjoy until the 19th of October.
