Evolution! – carrying on Palma’s cultural film scene for a fourth year running
Evolution! Mallorca International Film Festival kicked off in the iconic bar of the old Gran Hotel in Mallorca this week, a fitting scene for cocktails courtesy of Champagne Perrier Jouët, one of its sponsors.
Festival goers then gathered within the atmospheric walls of Teatro Principal to hear organiser Sandra Seeling Lipski give a special thanks to all for making possible this special five-day event, the fourth on the island, and to watch the premier of Blood Orange, a fast-paced psychological thriller by British director Toby Tobias, starring Iggy Pop.
German actor and director Goehard Giese was the happy winner of the first festival award, for his movie Die Geschichte Vom Astronauten, to be released right here in Palma later in the week. A total of fourteen awards will be presented during the festival, for a variety of cutting-edge genre films.
Evolution! will culminate in a lavish award ceremony and after party at San Juan Gourmet Market, one of the capital’s hottest new social spots, at the end of festival week.
