Meet the Interior Design team behind Rossi Interiors
In our Interior Designers on Mallorca series, we interview design duo Eveline Rossi (Interior Designer) and her husband Piero Rossi (Dipl. Architekt ETH SIA) who talk about their cosmopolitan style, as a result of their travels worldwide and opening a second studio on Mallorca having successfully operated in Zurich for many years.
How long have you been living on Mallorca?
Four years ago we visited Mallorca for the first time and fell in love with the Island. Three years ago we bought our ‘Casita’ that we stripped completely with local craftsmen. We furnished the house in a modern design with lots of island feeling. We feel completely at home here.
Where are you from originally?
We are both originally from Switzerland. Eveline’s father is British and she studied in Cambridge, England. Piero studied architecture in Zürich and spent one year of his studies in Paris. Both have travelled the world and understand the cosmopolitan way of living.
What do you love most about living on Mallorca?
We love the multicultural aspect and the art of living here on the Island, which inspires us in our daily work. We spend lots of time with friends from all over the world and exchange thoughts and ideas in terms of design and what peoples needs are for a liveable home.
Where is your interior design space?
We have two Showrooms in Zürich. One of which is our private apartment, which we have designed not just for us to live in but also to inspire our clients. Here in Mallorca we operate from Santa Ponca, which works very well with our clients.
How would you describe your décor style?
Our style is colourful, friendly and opulent…. sometimes luxurious… but our living spaces are always a place for people to live-in and feel comfortable. The living spaces that we create don’t have a typical Rossi Interiors signature. We believe the décor style has to come from our clients. We help clients find their style and encourage them to express themselves in their homes.
Give me a profile of your typical client.
Our clients know exactly what they want but just don’t have the time to furnish their homes themselves. We find what they need and organize everything to the date that we have agreed upon for them to move in or complete the transformation.
What would be your dream project?
We have designed restaurants, bars, car showrooms and other commercial properties, but never a boutique hotel. We would love to design a boutique hotel, where we would combine the best of our design ideas that we have gained from our worldwide travels.
What is your top interior design tip for readers?
Don’t try to save money by not consulting an interior designer. There are thousand of nice things to get for your home, but not everything fits together. So it is important to find a style that suits you and that everything is in place to match the design idea.
Which is the most interesting project you have ever done and why?
All our projects are and have been very interesting. Our favourite projects are where we don’t know the client. At the moment we are working on the design of two apartments where the apartment is not sold and we are designing the apartments for a fictive client. We make an assumption about the potential buyer and design the living space accordingly. This is where our life experience and expertise are required at a very high level and we can fulfill and have fun while doing our job!
