This popular authentic Thai restaurant arrived in Palma in 2003 from Berlin, where the first of the Maothai establishments was opened in 1993 to great acclaim.
It was not easy in the beginning to gain working visas for the Thai cooking team but over the years it has become easier. It’s not just the staff who are from Asia, there is also a weekly delivery of essential vegetables and spices from the homeland to accompany the authentic flavours of the dishes.
The restaurant is located on the outskirts of the city, close to the palace of the Spanish royal family, about a 10-minute taxi ride from the centre of Palma. The décor is simple and there is a small sidewalk terrace attached to the restaurant.
A favourite dish is the sweet and sour chicken and pineapple served in the pineapple. Duck dishes are also popular here.
There are not many Thai restaurants on the island and it has to be said that this is one of the longest established and has built a good reputation over the years.
