Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of the Spanish Mediterranean island – and home to more than half of Majorca’s population. Parts of Palma, such as La Lonja and the Old City, are steeped in history and photo-worthy architecture, and you can easily explore the narrow streets on foot.
Enjoy shopping? Palma boasts some top brand stores and boutiques, such as the three-storey Hugo Boss Store. When you’ve finished browsing and buying, you’ll find a great choice of restaurants, cafés and bars – many with outside tables for a chance to people-watch.
Be sure to include La Seu – the local name for Palma Cathedral – and the 14th century hilltop Bellver Castle on your sightseeing ‘musts’ list, and head just southeast of the city, near the Bay of Palma, for the acclaimed Palma Aquarium. The frequent number 21 bus service links the Bay of Palma with the heart of Palma de Mallorca.
