Why is a red wine given the name of an extinct goat from 1.800 B.C.? Myotragus was the ‘cave goat’ that lived in the Tramuntana mountains, was hunted by the islanders, and finally became extinct. But what does this have to do with wine? Nothing – just a nice marketing idea dedicated to the locals´ forerunners.
The former winery owner Jesús simply can´t stop. Under the label Pinavaley he has introduced the Myotragus to the market. We are looking at a ‘Vino de Autor’, a so-called ‘author wine’, just to Jesús’ likings. It is produced at the winery Son Bordils. This is due to the long-standing friendship with his old classmate Ramon Coll (one of the current owners).
Merlot, Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine shows a dense ruby red. Ripe berry fruit is the dominating scent. This is supported by notes of Mediterranean herbs and cocoa. On the palate, it is balanced with pleasant tannins. The length of the finish is very pleasant.
Pleasant companion for a nice tapas evening.
