Mediterranean cuisine at its best
The S’Autor restaurant in Palma de Mallorca celebrates Mediterranean style cuisine at its best. Products are fresh from the market, plates beautifully arranged and subtly flavoured with fresh herbs and spices. Nieves, the owner receives her guests with a cordiality, which is missing in a lot of other restaurants.
„I want my guests to enjoy and feel comfortable and quality means everything to us!" is how the charming host, who is a passionate cook and gourmet herself, describes the concept of her restaurant. Nieves wants to provide an alternative to the tapas bars and traditional restaurants in the area with the light and refined cuisine served in her restaurant. Success proves her right.
The S’Autor is a small, fine restaurant with 10 tables only and has an international audience, many of which are regulars. Recommendations of the chef are liver of duck, fresh or as a pâté and the freshly caught fish and seafood.
We tried the carpaccio of red prawns and ravioli filled with mushrooms with sautéed liver of duck – both a delight and prepared to perfection. The mouth-watering filet of lamb was tender and juicy and crusted with sun-dried tomatoes and black olives.
As a dessert, Nieves served a modern variation of a traditional Mallorcan sweet „Menjar Blanc“, a kind of Pannacotta made of almond milk, which was accompanied by figue ice cream and which was just as virtuous as the other dishes served that night. The S’Autor is still an insiders’ tip in Palma and not many restaurants offer such excellent food at comparatively moderate prices. If you enjoy creative, Mediterranean cuisine you should definitely have the S’Autor on your agenda!
