Take advantage of the long evenings and the warmer weather to get outdoors and enjoy Mallorca. Here is the abcMallorca guide to everything related to Spring on the island.
Seasonal Food in Spring
In spring, many fresh vegetables are available again at the markets. And in Mallorca, spring is also the time to indulge in lamb and asparagus.
+Natural has a simple philosophy: Healthy and balanced eating, using fresh products from the market. The menu offers healthy, balanced salads, with fresh seasonal variations from the market, all created with the help of a nutritionist. One of the few places to really enjoy and indulge in salads, the + Natural restaurant is located right on the Plaza España, opposite the train station in Palma de Mallorca.

Ca Na Toneta
This charming restaurant in the centre of Caimari is run by sisters Maria and Teresa. The relatively short menu is based on seasonal food, with organically grown produce from their family garden. Meat, mostly lamb and goat, but also fish, are also bought from local suppliers in the area. Try the light carpaccio of zucchini with goat´s cheese, the fabulous, mouthwatering leg of lamb, followed by one of the delicious homemade desserts.

Collect your own asparagus
Wild, green asparagus is ripe in springtime along road and field sides and Mallorcans love to pick their own vegetables. Look out for fresh, green meadows or recently sown fields. You will have more luck in the centre of the island, around Llucmajor but also in the southeast and the area surrounding Sa Pobla. The asparagus has long, thin stalks and a slightly bushy head. The stalks should be generously cut before cooking as they can be quite woody and bitter. Asparagus tastes best freshly cut and the best places to find it in abundance are a well-kept secret; however, you will also find this delicacy in your local market or in Palma’s market hall. Asparagus is best blanched in a mixture of water and milk, to reduce the bitterness. For a light lunch, once blanched simply stir-fry it in olive oil together with garlic and bacon. Delicious!
