This foundation dedicates itself to cultural and social work, and its headquarters in Palma de Mallorca are housed in one of the city’s most photographed buildings: the former Gran Hotel, which first opened its doors to guests in 1903. The building was designed by the Modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and the interior refurbished and adapted for its current role as a multi-purpose social and cultural centre for art and science exhibitions, conferences, concerts, workshops and educational events. The centre includes an auditorium, seating almost 200 people; a fascinating arts bookshop, and a café/restaurant, with a terraced area. Free entrance.
“La Caixa” Foundation is close to Palma de Mallorca’s Plaza Major and the Rambla, known for its many stalls selling flowers. Good restaurants in this area include Simply Fosh and Misa Braseria.
