The weather in Mallorca is understandably a strong attraction for many visitors to the island. Its climate falls into the category of temperate subtropical, which means hot summers and short, generally mild winters (although recent winters have featured some short uncharacteristically cold snaps – and even some light snow in places outside of the Tramuntana mountain range!).

Mallorca has around 300 days of sunshine a year. Summer is reliably hot and sunny for the beach, but you can also enjoy ideal holiday weather in spring and autumn – when the temperature is particularly suitable for sport. Weather conditions can fluctuate during the late autumn and winter, when it can be cloudy, with high humidity, some heavy rainfall and strong wind. The weather in January

A period of calm, known appropriately enough as ‘La Calma’ usually falls during this month, bringing less wind and rain and some clear blue skies with fresh temperatures. Average top temperature for this month is around 14°C.

The weather in February

The almond blossom is an early nod to the forthcoming spring, and days can ideal for walking and other outdoor activities. The occasional very cold snap can strike, sending temperatures plummeting, but the average high is around 15°C.

The weather in March

There are often strong winds blowing in this month, which has around eight days when rain falls. But the arrival of spring also brings milder weather and more sunshine, with top temperatures averaging 17°C.

The weather in April

Spring is here and the average top temperature reaches 19°C, with conditions ideal for outdoor activities and sport. Night time temperatures now average 10°C.

The weather in May

For many, it’s the perfect month: blue skies, warm sunshine and no more than around five days when rain falls. Expect an average high temperature of 22°C.

The weather in June

The mornings and evenings are warmer and longer days push the average temperature up to 26°C, with plenty of sunshine and usually no more than three days when you need an umbrella.

The weather in July

Hot, sunny, and with long warm evenings to enjoy outdoors. You might get one day of rain this month, but the average top temperature of 29°C and overnight low of 20°C more than make up for a shower.

The weather in August

August often has some clammy days, when the heat and high humidity take hold. Temperatures are similar to July, but there’s a risk of occasional thunderstorms and brief downpours later in the month.

The weather in September

The first of the storms calms down the intense summer heat and with an average top temperature of 27°C, this can be a perfect month. Mornings and evenings are usually cooler and there’s rainfall on an average of five days.

The weather in October

One of the two wettest months in Mallorca, but still pleasantly warm and with plenty of sunny days. The average top temperature is 23°C, but heavy storms and strong northerly winds can send the mercury plunging.

The weather in November

Shorter days and the lower position of the sun mean much cooler weather: the average high is 18°C. Overnight temperatures are similar to those in April. Rain is likely on around eight days this month – often with strong winds.

The weather in December

The other one of the two wettest months, December can be pleasant when the sun shines – which it does for an average of five hours a day this month. Average daytime high of 15°C and overnight low of 8°C.
