At the finca of wine revolutionary Francisco Grimalt one feels transported to a completely new yet somehow familiar time. In the 60s and 70s there were “sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll” communities. Today some young, nature-loving guys don’t want to bow to the mainstream, but live with it and make their living from it.
A fallow, overgrown piece of land behind the bodega is like an ancient Roman garden for Francisco and his followers. The growth is left to chance, even the occasional vine: an experiment with an uncertain result. But the Romans also lived this way.
Domestic cats roam the bodega, a vegetable garden supplies the employees, and pretty hens are chased by even prettier cockerels. Yes, and wine is produced here. Completely atypical of other wineries, 4 Kilos does not have its own vineyards, but buys grapes exclusively from other friendly vine growers. While growing his own vineyard, Francisco selects from among the best vintages.
Francisco´s 4 Kilos is an international figurehead of local wines. At famous restaurant Astrid + Gastón in Lima (Peru), at Gordon Ramsay in London, and at El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, these fine wines are already on the list. Francisco is very proud of this achievement.

Classic red pours into the glass. It has a flattering fruity bouquet, featuring blueberries and plums. It is opulent on the palate with a soft texture. The balance between oak barrels and fruit is a successful one.

What a beautiful violet fills the ‘copa’! The expressive bouquet of wild flowers is fresh and fine. Palate: blueberry and raspberry are amazingly combined. Mallorca is perceptible through its earthy tones. The aftertaste is mineral and persistent. Assertive wine of excellence.
