The hottest July on record contributed to a great summer on Mallorca – where the hotel occupancy rate during that month was 90%, compared to 88.6% in 2014. The Balearic Islands enjoyed the highest average hotel occupancy rate of all the Spanish regions.
In May, June, and July, Mallorca recorded 4,287,278 tourists. The most significant numbers came from Germany (1,561,447), the UK (1,049,272), and the Nordic countries (376,404). The UK holiday comparison website TravelSupermarket revealed that Mallorca was the most-searched-for destination.
Among the well-known visitors this summer were the most senior members of the Spanish royal family, and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
