We are well into the summer season and thankfully the island is enjoying record numbers of visitors again this year. There are many new offerings, from beach clubs and spas to restaurants and beautiful new boutiques, as well as the luxury five-star hotel in Port Sóller and of course the massive project of the extended Port Adriano.
The invitations have been landing in my inbox at a phenomenal rate and we give you a recap of the best inaugurations and events on page 130. As it is so hot, we found an ideal terrace on the edge of the sea for this month’s restaurant review (page 56) where we discovered one of the best paellas we have tried, at Las Terrazas at Hotel Bendinat.
We asked local writer Sergio Campoy to unveil some very special hidden corners on the island (page 76) so you can get away from the masses and visit a quiet spot of natural beauty.
We meet some really interesting people living on Mallorca in this edition: the German, Princess Astrid von Stolberg (page 70) who offers trekking in the mountains of Serra de Tramuntana; the recently knighted Sir Douglas Ellis (page 82) – best known for his sometimes controversial tenure as head of football club Aston Villa, and local pianist David Gómez (page 86) who is giving candlelight concerts in special venues around the island.
Our luxury lifestyle section includes a fashion editorial (page 104) which is the only style inspiration you’ll need for your vacation, and check out the products we love on page 16. With your suitcase packed and abcMallorca in your hand, you are ready for some wellearned rest and relaxation.
