An important exhibition of work by the late artist Antoni Tàpies can be seen at Sa Tafona Gallery in Deià from mid-August for a month.
The Catalan – who was awarded the hereditary title of Marqués de Tàpies in 2010 by the former king of Spain – has a foundation in his name in Barcelona.
The Sa Tafona Art Gallery exhibition entitled Tàpies Suite Llull displays 24 etchings and a serigraphy printed on canvas belonging to the collection Tristán Barbará Editions. All were inspired by texts of Ramón Llull (1232-1316) and Tàpies worked on them over a 12 year period.
This year Mallorca celebrates the seventh centenary of the death of the great Mallorcan philosopher, writer, and Franciscan, Ramón Llull and the exhibition is specifically designed to pay homage to him and to recognize the enormous artistic value of Tàpies’ work.
The exhibition will be on display from the 12th of August to the 12th of September, 2016.
