This restaurant has closed permanently and a the location is now used for a new restaurant named “Le Bistro Blue”.
The narrow-fronted Appetite Café & Bistro in Palma’s bohemian Santa Catalina neighbourhood opened in April 2014. The Singapore-born chef Bonnie, who owns the restaurant together with Arantxa, grew up in Australia, and her cuisine is inspired by Pan-Asian street food.
Alfresco dining is at small tables on the pavement outside, but we prefer the décor and welcoming ambience inside. Decorative touches include round wooden-framed mirrors, an oversized wall clock, and large metal lampshades over the tables. The team can be seen working in the rear semi-open kitchen.
They use their own-grown organic vegetables, and the healthy food is bursting with flavour and textures. Dishes are adapted for vegetarians on request. Appetite offers a daily-changing three-course lunch menu, including a drink, for 15€.
From the à la carte menu we shared superbly crispy duck and mango salad (15€), and rich Malaysian organic chicken satay (10€). Asian-food lovers will find plenty to please, including Singapore Laksa (16€). Thai Singha beer, Spanish wines (including a couple of Mallorcan), and creative cocktails available.
The recently opened modern-Asian bistro Thairrific in Portals Nous, and Brazilian BBQ-style restaurant Churrasco in Santa Catalina are under the same ownership as Appetite.
We love…the delicious flavours of the Orient.
