Basmati Indian Restaurant
Spanish & English
Climb the few steps up to the main entrance and you’ll be greeted by tantalising aromas, as you enter an opulent high-ceilinged room, with décor that reflects the charm and exoticism often associated with Indian culture. Strewn rose petals and subtle lighting add to the romance of the place.
The owner and chef of the restaurant is the welcoming Bangladeshi, Shahin Awal, who left his home country in 1991 to work in Madrid, before coming to Mallorca. The cuisine is mildly spiced but packed with flavour and generously portioned.
There’s no à la carte menu, but a daily changing tasting menu based on what Shahin wants to offer that day. Shahin happily explains the dishes. Some of the fresh produce used – even papaya fruit – comes from his own vegetable garden. Vegetarians will have no problems here. Portions are generous and the price is affordable for the quality and service.
The friendliness and delicious cuisine at Basmati – one of the best Indian restaurants on the island – are sure to encourage you to visit again.
For lovers of good Indian food, Basmati is one of the best on Mallorca for the full, authentic experience.
