The Beach Club Gran Folies is one of Mallorca‘s oldest beach and pool clubs and it has managed to stay current and keep its high standards over the years.
Beach Club Gran Folies has a bit of everything: tropical décor, a brilliantly seductive fin de siècle French name, VIP service, and a salt-water pool. Most importantly, it has a brilliant location overlooking the pristine turquoise waters of Cala Llamp near Port Andratx.
A host of services are available in the various “zones” that are scattered around this cliffside location. The VIP sunbed zone includes towel service, parasol and a glass of cava, along with a VIP waitress always available as well. Try the Sunbed Solarium service around the smaller pool which includes shower and towel service.
The Bali Beds are off to the side a bit for extra privacy and include towel service and a glass of cava, or go all in for the “Special Zone“, which sits right on the seafront and near the pool, with wait service, towels, a sunbed, complimentary fruit and water. The tiki style huts that line the edges of these zones creates a relaxed, island vibe to an area that already feels like an island escape.
With stunning waterfront locations and some excellent dining opportunities, Mallorca’s beach clubs offer amazing experiences, day or night… […] The 11 ‘must-do’ beach clubs on Mallorca
Though you can make your way down to the crystal clear waters of Cala Llamp for a dip in the sea, the salt-water pool is lovely alternative that is closer to the sunbeds. Enjoy a cocktail while at the pool’s edge and admiring the views.
You won’t lack for food or drink options at the Beach Club Gran Folies. A large restaurant with seating for 130, the menu has signature dishes such as lobster paella, chateaubriand, and salt-crusted fish. Reservations are advised for the restaurant run by head chef José Marín. For something lighter, there is a snack bar that serves a range of good tapas style snacks to enjoy by the pool, and a chiringuito bar that is right on the beach serving up cocktails and drinks. The chill-out zone is pretty much explained in its name- so grab a drink, chill, and soak up the ambiance. Regulars say the best way to enjoy a visit here is by savouring it with either a strawberry daiquiri or a mojito, the two best cocktails in the house.
The crystalline waters of Cala Llamp, a beautiful enclosed cove with two cliffs on either side – acting almost as sentries – providing exclusivity, also offer a tempting diversion. So, too, does the rocky outcrop directly below the club. There is natural sea pool within the rocky edges which can be reached by a staircase. The lighting effects at night are dramatic.
Reservations for all services are highly recommended at least 24-hours in advance.
