About Beatnik Restaurant & Bar
Landmark boutique hotel, Purohotel, have updated their dining and drinking offering (formerly Opio) with the 2019 launch of their Beatnik Restaurant & Bar, a new concept and a first of its kind for the island.
The CEO of the Puro Group, Beltrán Álvarez de Estrada, was inspired to recreate the bohemian aesthetics and atmosphere of fifties New York, and the Beatnik movement of the era, with restaurateur Edgar Lagassi delivering the vision. Located in the La Lonja district, it is also set in the buzzing heart of historic Palma.
International eclectic menu
The excellent menu is an eclectic mix of cuisines from all over the world, with exotic spices combined with fresh Mediterranean flavours, while incorporating locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. Stand-out dishes from the sharing section include tuna sashimi flatbread, chicken lollipop and lobster tacos, mains include the likes of grilled octopus and pork belly ribs, while dessert highlights are the salted caramel chocolate tart and New York cheesecake.
The restaurant is open all day, starting with a breakfast menu that can be enjoyed by both non-guests and those staying at the hotel. The space transformed seamlessly into a lunch venue, and then to dinner when the Beatnik vibe really shines. The restaurant is open seven days a week, and a brunch menu is offered every Sunday. A patio and rooftop opens over the summer months and offer alfresco dining and drinks.
True to the Puro spirit, the cosmopolitan Beatnik bar continues to be one of the hottest nightspots for Mallorca’s hip crowd. Music reflects the bohemian vibe, provided by both DJs and live acts to create the mood for socialising and good times. An Allen Ginsberg quote in neon “Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness” also sets the tone.
Expert mixologists whip up signature cocktails, including a good selection of alcohol-free options, plus there’s a long list of champagnes and other fizz available. From Thursday to Saturday the bar is open until late.
