The northeastern region of Mallorca offers a small but surprising variety of good restaurants, of which two hold a Michelin star during 2017.
You’ll find restaurants in and around the attractive hilltop towns of Artà and Capdepera, and hotels in coastal and inland locations offering fine food to diners who are not necessarily staying overnight there.

Simply the best
Although there have not been any notable new openings since the last edition of our Guide, Es Molí d’en Bou (which has held a Michelin star since 2004) marked its 15th anniversary with a change of name to Bou. An evolution in their tasting menu concept provided a more intimate dining experience – including communal seating at the chef’s table for part of the evening.

A memorable experience
In summer, dining alfresco at Michelin star Andreu Genestra offers views of the floodlit Capdepera Castle, whereas its sister restaurant Bistro Senzill offers high-end gastronomy in a casual setting, also located in the same hotel.
Gaudí overlooks and – in season – has tables in a lovely garden, and the Mediterranean Sea glitters in front of Vintage 1934 and Can Simoneta. If you love lobster, ask to see the ‘tank’ at Vintage 1934 – the largest we’ve ever seen!
In 2017 chef David Moreno moved to Melassa at Melbeach Hotel & Spa. Formerly at Andreu Genestra, Moreno has brought innovative gastronomy to this beachfront hotel in Canyamel.
