This region includes the resorts of Porto Cristo, Cala Murada, Portocolom, Cala d’Or, and Colònia de Sant Jordi – where our featured restaurants have something more to offer than their neighbouring establishments.
The south is particularly popular with German and Swiss residents and holidaymakers, which is reflected in the above-average number of German-owned restaurants. The market towns of Campos and Santanyí are found here.

New & noteworthy
Although no new openings feature in our Restaurant Guide 2016, two established restaurants have won a place. The restaurant at family-run Hotel El Coto is appreciated by wine connoisseurs for its impressive bodega, as well as the cuisine, professional service, and welcoming ambience. In 2015, well-known chef Gerhard Schwaiger (formerly of Tristán) became this seasonal restaurant’s culinary consultant – quickly making his mark here.
Talented young chef Marta Rosselló relocated her Sal de Cocó restaurant in spring 2015, from the backstreets of Colonia de Sant Jordi to a more prominent waterside position close to the fish market.
Another fine addition to the Colonia de Sant Jordi dining scene is Salicornia Restaurant, serving a menu of classic Mallorcan cuisine in relaxed chic-beach-shack style decor overlooking the beachfront promenade.
In 2017, the adults-only Sa Creu Nova Art Hotel & Spa opened in the centre of market town Campos. It offers two excellent restaurants: the intimate-experience Japanese Kairiku and the gastronomic Mediterranean-cuisine Tess de Mar. Located in the Melbeach Hotel & Spa, Restaurante Melbeach offers fantastic sea-front views with top Mediterranean/Mallorcan cuisine.
