About Bistro Senzill Restaurant
Bistro Senzill is one of the restaurants in the Hotel Predi Son Jaumell, a boutique hotel located in Capdepera, in a quiet, north-eastern part of Mallorca. Bistro Senzill is the more casual of chef Andreu Genestra’s two restaurants here, the other being the Michelin starred Andreu Genestra restaurant, but the food is no less creative and fresh. Senzill has welcoming and relaxed ambiance that belies the top gastronomic experience that this restaurant offers. The outdoor terrace has a vine-covered pergola where one can enjoy their meal nearby the garden where many of the vegetables are grown that are used in Genestra’s creative cooking.
About Andreu Genestra
Born in Inca, Andreu Genestra is one of Mallorca’s most beloved and well-respected “home-grown” chefs, who has helped establish Mallorca as a leading food destination. He started working in kitchens at the age of 15, eventually working at Marc Fosh and then Son Brull, both of which instilled a passion for Mallorcan gastronomic heritage. After working in other parts of Spain, including a stint at legendary “El Bulli,” he returned back home to share his talents with Mallorca, creating a style of cooking that is based on fresh and local ingredients, an ode to the land and its roots.
About the food
At Bistro Senzill, Genestra and his team mix Mallorcan heritage with contemporary style, with an underlying emphasis on vegetables, most all of which are grown on his on-site garden. Classics such as paella, roast pork, or shrimp are revisited with new flavours and spice, and international favourite such as the humble hamburger are given new standards. Sharing options are offered during the day, the braised dishes are cooked in the magic of the Josper oven, and 4-course tasting menus are also an option should you not be in the mood to decide what to order.
