Following a change of culinary concept, the former GP Café on Palma’s Borne has reopened as Burger Lab by Adrián Quetglas. Adrián – whose own eponymous restaurant in Palma has one Michelin star – is the culinary consultant for Ginza Project, which owns the new high-quality burger eatery.
Burger Lab by Adrián Quetglas has the most stylish décor of any burger restaurant in Palma, even after some modifications made to the interior to accommodate the change of concept.
The front area of the restaurant has a long counter where you can sit on high stools; conventional tables for two diners line one wall. At the back of this burger restaurant is an area that children – and their parents – will love, as kids’ movies are screened here. There is still also terrace seating for those who prefer al fresco eating and drinking (a 10% price supplement applies on the terrace).
Open all day, Burger Lab by Adrián Quetglas offers a fairly small menu of innovative home-made burgers, including classic, Italian, Mexican, and Mallorcan. We tried the highly recommended fish burger (made from cod and prawns) and the classic beefburger (tasty and tender meat) with cheese, bacon, tomato. There’s a choice of four types of bread bun (including beer bread), various pickles, and sauces including kimchi ali oli, Chilean sauce, and fresh herb sauce.
The side orders tried were roasted sweet potatoes, vegetable salad with smetana and dill, and coleslaw – all delicious and certainly not prepared in a run-of-the-mill way. Other side dishes include cassava chips and Korean-style carrots.
A chill cabinet tempts you with plenty of sweet treats, either to end your burger meal or enjoy as an accompaniment to a coffee or tea. Our desserts were the rather sweet lemon pie (but not a British-style pie) and the tasty honey cake.
With its convenient central location, stylish interior, and high-quality but reasonably priced food, Burger Lab by Adrián Quetglas is set to become a popular choice for burger fans – particularly during the holiday season. Oh, and it does take-out too…
