The ‘Financial Times’ described Ca Na Toneta as ‘rustic chic’. The sisters, María y Teresa Solivellas, own and run this fabulous restaurant occupying an old house in Caimari village.
They source fresh organic produce as close to home as possible – the ‘0 km’ concept – using trusted local suppliers and produce from their own garden in delicious seasonal dishes, based on traditional Mallorcan recipes.
The interior is cosily attractive and, for alfresco dining, there´s a lovely rear patio.
How would you describe your cuisine (what style)?
My cuisine is simple, honest, and feminine.
What are you hoping your clients feel when eating your food?
I feel like an interpreter of the territory where I live and I love explaining Mallorca, our landscape, our culture. I want them to taste Mallorca.
What is your personal favourite dish to eat?
I love eating and I like pretty much everything, it depends on the moment. However, I am particularly fond of veggies.
Which chef or experience had the most influence on your own cooking?
Almost all of them are inspiring but someone well-known could be René Rezepi from Noma in Copenhagen or Ricard Camarena from Valencia.
TripAdvisor: friend or foe, and why?
I prefer criticism face to face, it´s much more helpful. And as a user I am not interested at all, I just listen to the opinions of people I know and respect.
What are your thoughts about the restaurant scene on Mallorca?
There´s been a huge change in the past few years and we are making giant steps in improving our gastronomy. However, there is also a more standard offer which should improve considerably.
