About Caló des Màrmols
Caló des Màrmols is likely to be the gold medal winner for most tranquil beach in all of Mallorca. Located in the southeast of the island near the tip, with the nearest towns being Colonia San Jordi, Ses Salines or Santanyi, Caló des Màrmols is a small cove beach of 40-metres, surrounded by high cliffs and minimal vegetation, with only scattered pine trees and desert plants.
The beach is sandy with small pebbles, and the water is nearly transparent it is so clear and light blue, making it a great beach for snorkeling. This is a favourite among locals and some tourists, mostly young-middle age travellers who are in the know. However it is important to bring a lot of water, food and anything else you may fancy on a beach day as there are no restaurants, facilities, activities for hire, and no lifeguard on duty.

Safety and Access
What makes Caló des Màrmols so quiet is that it is hard to get to. The beach is only accessed by foot, walking 5.5 kilometres from the Cap de Ses Salines or, which is generally the more popular choice, is by anchoring your boat for the day and swimming in for a rest on the sand. The walk from Cap Ses Salines is not difficult terrain, but in the hot sun the path can be long. In addition, the path is not well marked so it is a good idea to have a map and GPS with you to be sure. If you are anchoring your boat, the nearest port with facilities is in the port of Cala Figuera.
There is no lifeguard on duty or emergency facilities within near reach. A small first aid kit might be a good idea to bring as well if you come on foot.

There are many hotels and self catering apartments in this town which serves as a good base for exploring the southern part of the island. Ses Salines is a bit further afield and is a charming village with a handful of good quality restaurants and boutiques and nice sized public playground for kids.
For an afternoon or evening meal (perhaps well earned if you have done the long hike), visit the lovely port of Cala Figuera for al fresco dining along the cliffs with beautiful views.
