About Camp de Mar
This sea front town in the southwest of Mallorca, close to Andratx, is a popular holiday resort – but put away any thoughts you may have of high rise blocks and loud bars. This sophisticated beach area is surrounded by small, exclusive hotels and is popular with the well-heeled and glitterati who flock here during the summer months.
There is a well-serviced, beautifully clean beach area with a little wooden bridge which stretches towards a rocky islet called ‘La Illeta’. Here you can enjoy food and drink at a little cabana. The setting is what makes this location so desirable with crystal clear waters, pine trees and dramatic rock formations.
History and Culture of Camp de Mar
The first hotel was built in Camp de Mar in 1932. The famous spy Tomás ‘Tommy’ Harris also bought a house here in 1949. Development later flourished in the 1980’s and continued until fairly recently.
Camp de Mar has been a hot-spot for many celebrities, most notably Claudia Schiffer who once owned a home here. Despite later development, the resort remains a quieter destination for laid-back holiday-makers who want to enjoy the beach and stunning scenery.

Things to do around Camp de Mar
If you want to do more than enjoy the beautiful beach and rocky coves, Camp de Mar is well-placed to explore the south west of the island or go hiking and cycling around the glorious Serra de Tramuntana Mountain range.
You can also take a hike and arrive to a 16th century watch tower, which was restored by Claudia Schiffer’s family, is a popular walking destination and provides panoramic views of the surrounding coast and countryside.
It is also recommended to catch a boat from Sant Elm and visit Sa Dragonera Natural Park. It is a good 15 minutes away by car, but promises an enjoyable day out for all the family thanks to its plentiful wildlife – the island is famous for its indigenous lizards!

Living in Camp de Mar
Camp de Mar enjoys a lively international mix of visitors during the summer, but is very quiet during the winter months. Properties here include a good range of apartments and villas, but Camp de Mar is relatively expensive. Expect to pay from 260,000 euros for a basic apartment up to 1.5 million euros for a luxury penthouse and from 1 million to around 16 million euros for a sea-view villa.
