Mallorcan Chef Tina Bestard uses modern techniques to create her cuisine based on seasonal products of the highest quality. At Can Cera – Gastro Bar tapas dining become a whole new gastronomic experience.
There are two dining options the beautiful open courtyard or the modern, tastefully decorated interior. The dishes are made using seasonal produce and precise techniques; all complemented by a family oriented and extremely warm, attentive service which greatly enhances the experience. The cuisine is a fusion of tapas, local Mallorcan recipes and some Mediterranean favourites.
We sampled a mix of various tapas including pan cristal (crispy bread rubbed with ramallet tomato and extra virgin olive oil) which was light and crunchy, the homemade croquettes of Iberian ham, chicken and spinach were perfect – crispy on the outside and soft but not too creamy on the inside. Our favourite dish of the day was the portobello mushroom carpaccio, parmesan, truffle & almonds. The avocado and tomato tartar with salmon roe was a beautiful combination of textures and the traditional Majorcan flatbread with onion confit, aubergine and tomato was delicious.
The highlight for my companion was the suckling pig confit with rosemary flavoured young potatoes which he said was a definite reason to return.
A good sign for this restaurant is that it is as popular with locals who are fond of good cuisine, as well as with hotel guests.
