Adrian and Suzy Bertorelli own this charming 16th-century country house hotel in the hamlet of Binibona, in the Tramuntana, not far from Selva. Hospitality is in Adrian’s blood: his family started the UK chain of Bertorelli restaurants in the 1980s. This peaceful haven – sheep bells and birdsong are likely to be the soundtrack to your stay – has just seven rooms, including four individually named suites.
Of the latter, three are what they call garden suites and three have large four-poster beds. The gardens are lush with exotic Mediterranean plants, and home to an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel’s Sa Tafoneta restaurant is, as its name suggests, in the property’s former 17th century olive press. The original press itself is an interesting feature of the attractive dining room, which has restful blue upholstery and an exposed stone wall.
In summer, you can dine outside on the terrace, filled with pots of flowering plants and decorated with lemons. The cuisine – which attracts non-resident as well as resident guests – is Spanish and international.
We Love… The Cana Joana bridal suite, with its two-metre wide four-poster bed and private terrace and garden.
Why you should stay here… For the extensive views and warm hospitality.
Good to Know… Your hosts can arrange car or boat hire and other activities.
