One of Palma’s most famous festivals is known as Corpus Christi, which is held at Palma Cathedral where the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated.
Known on Mallorca as La Seu, the cathedral forms the perfect setting to commemorate the presence of the risen Christ.
The religious ceremony begins with the Blessed Sacrament and the singing of Vespers, followed by Holy Mass. After the Mass, the Corpus Christi procession begins accompanied by marching bands. It starts and finishes at the cathedral, but passes through the streets of Palma.
There is a carpet of flowers at the main entrance of the Cathedral and Plaza de Cort, which is laid by volunteers.
There is also a variety of music on offer, which includes traditional Spanish music, a soirée of Parisian music and music by composers from the classical era.
