Located on the Mont Port mountain in Puerto Andratx, the distinctive property known as Picasso offers commanding views out over the port, sea, and surrounding landscape. Although its striking contemporary exterior suggests a 21st-century construction, the property’s licence was granted in 1985. It was built originally in traditional ‘80s Mallorcan style, with a sloping tiled roof, rendered façade and, inside, wooden beams and many small rooms.
Today’s light-filled Picasso is the result of almost completely rebuilding the property to an exciting modern design. Some original parts were demolished to increase the overall constructed area and provide a new spacious layout, with four en suite bedrooms, and open-plan living/dining area. The façade combines sparkling white and stone-faced walls and, after dark, is strategically LED-lit. The overall style is dubbed ‘modern Mediterranean architecture’.
The original kidney-shaped swimming pool was removed and a repositioned new rectangular infinity pool installed, complementing the design of the residence. Using the same stone tiles on interior and exterior floors creates flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Although stylishly contemporary, Picasso retains some of its original identity: the authentic sloping ceilings and exposed beams have been specially treated and white-painted in keeping with the new bright and spacious modern interior. Domotics enable the control of underfloor heating, air conditioning, exterior lighting, and video intercom from any mobile device. Welcoming, comfortable, and of a high quality, the house is perfect for the dream Mediterranean lifestyle.
The transformation of Picasso into this stunning property was carried out by CSV, the building company, and APM Architecture and Project Management.
