Owners David Ribas and Caterina Pieras (maître and chef respectively) opened this excellent restaurant and petit hotel in 2012 in Llubí. The sympathetically restored building offers an attractive alfresco dining courtyard and – for those who may want to take advantage of the excellent choice of wines – three bedrooms.
The cuisine is innovative and delicious, with inspired flavour combinations. DaiCa offers an à la carte menu, as well as a six-plate tasting menu. The slow-cooked meats are particularly recommended, as are the tempting desserts. This hardworking couple and their team deserve the success they have found.
How would you describe your cuisine (what style)?
It´s a modern creative style with its own identity – a synergy between appreciating ‘the local’ and the evolution of vanguard techniques. A culinary vision based on traditional, Mallorcan, and Catalan recipes with a deep respect for seasonal and local products, as well as quality.
What do you think makes a restaurant successful?
Maintaining the spirit, the joy, and the motivation as it was on the restaurant’s first day.
A good cuisine, good service, and a good price-performance ratio alongside a great team. And obviously a good management.
On a night off, where is your favourite place on Mallorca to eat?
If I had the opportunity for a night out in a restaurant, I would go to Es Racó d’es Teix en Deià but I haven´t had the chance in many years.
How do you try to achieve work/life balance?
Organize and reorganize.
What are your thoughts about the restaurant scene on Mallorca?
The progress and the positive changes in the island’s gastronomic sector are really interesting. I believe that there is a solid base but still a lot to improve.
