About Eurocampus Deutsche Schule
Founded in 2002, the Eurocampus Deutsche Schule operates in partnership with the German school in Barcelona, as a German international school abroad. Around 110 children aged from 3 to 18 attend the school and ultimately gain their German baccalaureate.
English, Spanish & German
The school follows the standard curriculum for German schools abroad in the Iberian peninsula. The language of instruction is German and non-native speakers must show an adequate level of German to be able to attend the school.
Secondary school students study for the Mittlere Reife and Abitur qualifications, with examinations conducted in cooperation with the German School in Barcelona.
All children learn Spanish from the beginning. Primary school pupils have 8 hours of Spanish per week, Secondary students have 4 hours of Spanish language classes and 3 hours of social science classes taught in Spanish each week. Students also learn Catalan from day one, with a maximum of two classes per week.
English and French are also offered as optional subjects to older students.
As a small school located within the city, there are few facilities beyond a modern science laboratory. Children go to sports centre in Palma each week for physical education as there are no sports facilities at the school.
Extra Curricular Activities
The school does not offer any extra curricular activities, but instead encourages children to join in activities outside of school in order to improve their Spanish and integrate into the local community.
Fees range from 555 to 787 € per month, depending on age. There is also an initial registration fee of 550 € and a subsequent annual registration of 300 €, although this is reduced by 50% if paid by April of the preceding year.
Fees do not include text books, school trips or lunch.
The school day runs from 8:30 to 15:15 from kindergarten to 6th grade, and to 16:00 hrs from 7th grade onwards.
The Euro Campus school is located in El Terreno, Palma, close to the Bellver Castle and a block back from the seafront. Buses run regularly along Av Joan Miro, one block away. Parking in this area is often difficult to find.
Facilities close to the School
The location is within easy reach of the centre of Palma, but also close to both the marinas in the port and the woodlands surrounding Bellver Castle. It is also a few minutes from the motorway, putting it within easy reach of the surrounding villages and urbanisations, such as Genova and Son Vida, and the developments along the coast from Marivent and San Agustin to Illetes.
