Premiere Mallorcan Foodie Fair in Palma

March 16 - March 18

The best of Mallorca’s culinary personalities will converge on the 16, 17, and 18th of March in the Palau de Congressos in Palma.

A gastronomical exhibition of local fare, with talks by the island’s finest purveyors and chefs, sharing their love for Mallorcan cuisine.

The concept ‘vi vermut i variat mallorqui’ is at the heart of the event, an ode to the tradition of imbibing vermuth (or if you prefer, wine), alongside a selection of tapas. There will be more than 30 stalls exhibiting gastro-delights from the island. Eponymous Mallorcan wine cellars – the likes of Macià Batle, José L. Ferrer or Vins Can Nadal – will be there. Restaurant Celler Can Amer, along with chefs María Salinas (from Maria Salinas restaurant), Pau Navarro and Ariadna Salvador (both from Clandestí Taller Gastronòmic), among others, will be presenting their culinary concepts.

The sensual act of drinking and eating is integral to the culture in Spain, and the fair offers a chance to take part in the ‘variat’ that the Mallorcans take great pride in. Savouring a glass of wine or vermuth from one of the local vineyards while indulging in a sobressada or pa amb oli – a traditional farmer’s breakfast – is a not a carnal pleasure here.

The relationship is elevated to a ritual, enjoyed for centuries by peasants and bourgeoise alike. Come take part!
