The blessing of animals

Antoni Abad is the patron saint of animals. On his saint’s day (mostly in the morning), Mallorcans around the island traditionally take their animals and pets to be blessed by their local priest.

People and pets process slowly – sometimes on elaborate floats and in costume – in the queue for the annual blessing.
