The eve of Sant Antoni Abat

For centuries, Mallorcans have traditionally lit bonfires across the island and burned effigies of the Devil, who had tempted the Egyptian monk in the desert by dressing as a woman.

In towns and villages all over Mallorca, locals gather to cook food on barbecues or ‘torrades’, as the bonfires burn.
