The Cabau Aquasol has been providing unpretentious, family-friendly holiday lodgings for over 35 years now, and it is still going strong. Its location puts it within a short stroll of Palmanova beaches and dining, as well as easy access to neighbouring Magaluf.
Apartment accommodation means self-catering is always an option, but there are also two eateries onsite serving up decent fare. There’s plenty of room around the swimming pool, and parents can have a break from the kids (and vice verse) with the hotel’s free mini-club.
This holiday complex is located on a relatively quiet road in the popular resort of Palmanova, in the southwest of Mallorca. While its inland position means no sea views, two of Palmanova’s three of sandy beaches are within five minutes’ walk away. The island’s capital, Palma, is about a 20-minute drive away (or half an hour from the nearby bus), while you should add another 5-10 minutes for the airport.
With three beaches on a wide bay, located in the Southwest, Palma Nova offers typical resort amenities and a cut-above-the-average mini golf course. […] Palma Nova
Relax & enjoy
The leisure facilities here are mostly of the family-friendly variety. The centrepiece is the hotel’s freeform swimming pool, with a separate splash pool for small children and lined with an abundance of sun loungers. A programme of activities includes the likes of water games, bingo and twice-weekly pool parties, while a dedicated kids’ club also keeps children (aged 4 to 12) entertained. Nightly entertainment includes four professional shows a week from the hotel’s covered poolside stage. Massage treatments can also be arranged onsite.
The 132 apartments are spread over eight blocks, most of which are one-bedroom, but two- and three-bedrooms accommodation is also available. Decor is a straightforward combination of wood-effect floors, simple modern furniture, and patterned fabrics – all perfectly comfortable and functional. Kitchenettes provide cooking facilities and bathrooms all have updated rainfall showers.
All open to spacious balconies, with a choice overlooking the pool or Mediterranean gardens. The blocks have no lifts, so the hotel is not recommended for the mobility impaired.
Eat & drink
Updated in 2016 with a fresh modern feel, the hotel’s downstairs dining room opens for buffet breakfast and dinner daily. Breakfast offers a hearty full-English, plus a few healthier options, while coffee machines are bean-to-cup. Dinner options here change daily in a two-week cycle, plus there are two themed nights (Spanish and Mexican).
Poolside, a food hut provides meals and snacks throughout the day, including tapas, pasta and pizza. Styled like a British pub, the main bar is open until late.
Close to the hotel
As well as being with a short stroll of beaches, there are also plenty of resort-style restaurants within easy reach of the hotel. The raucous nightlife of Magaluf is within walking distance (about 15 minutes) or a quick cab journey. Families can also find the Katmandu amusement park here, as well as the Western Water Park. There are also two golf courses within a 10-minute drive.
Good to know
Those who prefer an early night should choose an apartment away from the pool, as entertainment goes on until fairly late.
