This lively wine fair to mark the end of the grape harvest includes a messy grape-throwing battle, street supper, fire run, parades, exhibitions, and wine tastings.
The wine town of Binissalem becomes a party zone for a fortnight at the end of the harvesting of the grapes.
The Festa des Vermar (wine fair) attracts people from all over the island and beyond for events such as wine tastings, grape-treading, grape-throwing competitions, carnival-type processions, and the outdoor supper at which the traditional dish Fideus de Vermar is served.
Expect a fun atmosphere and, if you’re going anywhere near the grape-throwing, beware of splatter!
The full programme of events is usually on the municipality website a couple of weeks beforehand.
