The Fiestas de Sant Blai takes place in the town of Campos and is in honour of the saint of the same name who is believed to cure throat conditions and illnesses. Throats of devotees are anointed with holy oil at the mass for the sick at Sant Blai oratory and traditional almond bread is sold.
What to expect
On Saturday a solemn Mass and the blessing of the children, oil and food is held and the Elderly People’s Choir sing. Also, during the day an exhibition of drawings by students is held in the town.
On Sunday, there is a pilgrimage to Sant Blai “Sense Fum” which is essentially a hike without the use of vehicles that sees locals travelling on foot, on bicycles and even roller skates. After the pilgrimage, there is another mass held, this time with the Children’s Parish Choir of Santa Julià singing.
Other activities take place throughout the town although the full itinerary is only released a week before the festival.
