My taste is simple: I am satisfied with the best.” Whether the Irish master-dandy and writer Oscar Wilde ever really said this, remains to be known. At any rate, it hits exactly the right note when it comes to understanding the business policy of Finest Selection. Founded in 2006 by the German entrepreneur Luis Heymann, and awarded with the ‘International Property Award’ in 2014 for the competent and serious handling of real estate transactions, this real estate agency deals exclusively with the most select and expensive properties on Mallorca. As simple as that.
But seriously: Do not countless other brokers on the island claim to do the same? “We distinguish ourselves from other real estate companies by two facts: First, we are likely to have the least number of properties on offer. Secondly, our portfolio genuinely only comprises properties in the best locations, with the best construction quality, and consequently with the most cost-effective increase in value,” says Luis Heymann. In fact, on Finest Selection’s website you can find real “property gems”, which would have even delighted Oscar Wilde.
However: in some cases, the illustration of the objects is very scarce – as for example in the case of a 300-hectare estate in the Mallorcan Tramuntana mountains for 25 million euros. “Exposé and photos upon request,” the site says. It turns out that this sentence is another important component of the company policy. “Our customers – both sellers and buyers – place great value on discretion. And that’s exactly what we offer them,” says Heymann, adding that they also dispose of several luxurious “off-market properties” that are not shown on the website. In addition to existing properties, Finest Selection also deals with its own new construction projects, including mainly detached designer villas in the best locations with sea views.
He puts his long-standing and permanent success in Mallorca’s highly competitive real-estate business down to two aspects: “I have been living on this island for 28 years and have a great network of good contacts. Many new customers come to us via recommendations. That’s what also sets us apart.” Of course, there are also the current “gold rush vibes” on the island. “Mallorca is attracting more and more wealthy people who are looking for an exclusive and representative holiday home for their family, friends, or business contacts. The environment is suitable. Many restaurants and hotels are already on a top level,” Luis Heymann explains. As a result, the demand for real estate in the double-digit-million-euro range is growing slowly but surely on the island.
Apart from very luxurious properties, in recent years Finest Selection has also specialized in selling luxury hostels and hotels. “We are probably the only providers on the island in this sector,” Heymann says. However, the current offer has shrunk considerably. “The high demand for lucrative investment objects in the international hotel industry has almost ‘emptied’ this market over the past few years.” His company set itself a monument with the construction of the luxurious Portal Hills hotel above the marina of Puerto Portals. Moreover, Finest Selection is also active as a real-estate agency in the Florida metropolis of Miami. “Through us, some customers have already invested in both destinations,” says Heymann. Just as in Mallorca, the Miami agency exclusively offers high-end and expensive residential properties. “It’s hard to compare Mallorca to Miami, even though both places attract the very wealthy ones in a similar way”.
What does the future look like? “Investment in residential properties has long become the first choice when it comes to securing assets and investing long term. This trend will continue – especially in Mallorca and the neighbouring islands,” Luis Heymann says. Oscar Wilde would certainly have enjoyed this.
