Golf Park Puntiró has a rural inland location, accessed from the Palma to Sineu road. Designed by the team at Jack Nicklaus’s company – this was their 279th layout – it was inaugurated in September 2006.
The course is built on a large country estate of some 165 acres, in a very natural and open environment, and follows the natural flow of the woodland landscape. Sensitively designed for minimum environmental impact, it is blessed with Mediterranean vegetation and wildlife. It’s fairly flat so it can be walked easily, but buggies are available and can be used on the fairways subject to weather conditions. It’s also less busy than many of the courses closer to the coast.
The course has a good mix of fairway and pot bunkers, water and elevated greens, and serious golfers should have a good round here, having to consider the hazards presented at every shot – including some tight fairways and small greens. There are several tee areas, making the course suitable for all levels of handicap.
There are two huge lakes at Golf Park Puntiró and the 8th and 16th holes are played over water, adding some drama to a round here.
Facilities at Golf Park Puntiró include a spacious clubhouse with terrace overlooking the course. There is a superb partly covered large practice area, comprising 220m driving range with greens and bunkers, and 42 practice tees.
