Whether it’s something daring to take you out of your comfort zone – and give you a huge sense of achievement – or a favourite sporting activity, enjoyed in a kinder climate than at home, Mallorca is the ideal sporting playground.
With more than 20 golf courses open to visiting players, and a temperate Mediterranean climate, Mallorca is the perfect year-round golfing destination. There are superb 18-hole courses all over the island – several of which have been designed by respected golf course architects, including Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones and John D Harris. Every level of player – from beginner to scratch – will find something to challenge them. There are also excellent practice facilities, top pro-golf shops and professionals to help you improve your game.
Notable places to play include the German-owned championship course Son Gual – praised by golfers including Ian Woosnam, Sam Torrance and Mark James. The course has been acknowledged as one of the finest in Europe and features in prestigious golf guides. The Arabella Golf resort offers the three 18-hole courses of Son Muntaner, Son Quint and Son Vida. Son Quint also has a nine-hole par-3 short Executive course – Mallorca’s only public pitch and putt course.
Many celebrities – Boris Becker, Claudia Schiffer, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, to name just a few – have wielded their clubs at Golf de Andratx, Camp de Mar. Other beautiful courses with spectacular Mediterranean views include Alcanada, Capdepera, Canyamel and Vall d’Or.

If you want to use your holiday to improve your golfing skills, professional lessons are available at many courses. The Arabella Golf Academy Mallorca offers top-level PGA golf professionals, modern video equipment for swing analysis, Nike fitting system for custom-made clubs and even a junior academy for younger golfers.
