Located in Fornalutx – several times named the most beautiful village in Spain – Ca’n Reus is named after the property’s one-time owner, who made his fortune exporting citrus fruits to France in the 19th century.
From 2003 until 2016 this small and welcoming hotel was owned by part-time BBC journalists Sue and Nick Guthrie. They created a charming comfortable place to stay, with Adriana Goanta as day-to-day manager. In summer 2016, some months after Nick sadly lost his wife to cancer, he sold the hotel to a new Swedish owner, Eric Falk. Happily for the many repeat guests here, Adriana is still the manager.
Ca’n Reus is traditionally furnished and styled, with authentic Mallorcan features such as tiled floors and wooden beams, but also the modern essentials of air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The glorious scenery, the honesty bar, and lounge with plenty of reading matter and open fire in the cooler months.
The name of each of the nine rooms is related to the surrounding Tramuntana mountains, which attract keen walkers to the hotel.
Hikers will feel well-fuelled after the Ca’n Reus buffet breakfast, but dinner isn’t offered on a regular basis. The hotel also has a garden, terrace, and swimming pool.
We Love…. The honesty bar – and log fire in cooler months.
Why you should stay here….. For the incredible walking opportunities and views.
Good to Know… Children under five years old not accommodated.
