Hotel Cort in the centre of Palma is a great base to explore the bustling city and to experience the Spanish way of life up close. The unobtrusive maritime design and the use of wood, leather and fabrics quickly creates a home from home feel. Each room and suite has its very own character – the Island Suite, for example, is particularly romantic with private rooftop terrace and outdoor whirlpool.
A huge gnarled olive tree makes the town hall square, the Plaza Cort, the best known square in Palma. It is in this privileged location that guests will find the Hotel Cort. It doesn’t get more central than this in Palma. The square is lively and bustling and will make you want to explore the city and become part of Mallorcan life.
Relax & enjoy
The bustling activity of the city can be best enjoyed on the terrace on the town hall square although the inside area of the bar also offers a great view of the Plaza Cort thanks to its high windows. A private rooftop terrace with small pool is ideal for cooling off in the summer heat.
In contrast to the striking white façade with deep red blinds, it is a Mediterranean blue which characterises the inside of the hotel. Designer Lazaro Rosa-Violán has created a subtle maritime design with sea charts adorning the walls. The use of many warm materials such as wood, leather and fabrics and cupboards filled with books evoke a cosy atmosphere. It is a place in which you quickly feel at home.
The 14 suites are spacious and individually designed. Some of them are duplex apartments, some have a fireplace and/or a free-standing bath. However, not all rooms have the beautiful view of the Plaza Cort. The equipment is modern, on request you get a media hub, there is a desk and coffee and tea in the room. The designer also succeeded in creating a harmonious design in the bathrooms, which differs from modern hotels. Blue tiles decorate the entire shower room and thus continue the Mediterranean-maritime style. The heated floor ensures a pleasant showering experience in winter too, while you enjoy the quality products from Molton Brown.
A highlight is the 70 m² Island Suite, a duplex with fireplace and bath tub, perfect for relaxing and getting cosy. The private terrace with outdoor whirlpool and a breathtaking view of the city will make it a stay to remember. A truly romantic spot!
Eat & drink
Breakfast is served in the hotel’s restaurant-bar and there is a choice of various menus. There isn’t a buffet but, instead, dishes are served according to guest wishes.
The Cort restaurant is open all day and is particularly popular for its fresh fish and excellent meat dishes.
Close to the hotel
From the hotel it is possible to explore the city centre by foot. Plaza Mayor with its many shops is only a few steps away. If you are planning a day trip but haven’t hired a car, buses from the central bus station on Plaza de España will take you to almost any corner of the island. La Seu Cathedral and the Royal Palace of Almudaina are also only a few minutes away, if you walk past the Parliament of the Balearic Islands and the Palau March. The Mercat d’Olivar, a typical Mallorcan market selling fruit, vegetable, meat and cheese is nearby.
Good to know
The old bank building has a mezzanine which was formerly used for observing employees and can today be hired for events. The room is characterised by wood and leather and a bar and you can easily imagine how bankers and dealers would have met here in the evenings to talk business. Politicians still like to use it for meetings and small events.
Why you should stay here
The cosy feeling in the rooms thanks to the creative design and the privileged central location.
