This restaurant on the ground floor of Hostal Portocolom opened in 2004.
With views over the sheltered harbour across the road, it’s a relaxing place open daily for lunch and dinner (from 18:30h) all year. The funky, modernist interior was by well-known designer Miguel Sagrera, and there’s a large shaded front terrace (with heaters in cool weather).
Chef Juan Sierra’s team produces Mediterranean cuisine, with something for all tastes on the à la carte menu: paellas, pastas, home-made pizzas, fresh fish and meat dishes. Weekend specials are also offered.
We shared two very good starters between three people: tempura prawns with a sweet chilli sauce and succulent simply grilled scallops with tempura asparagus and sauce. Baby lamb chops in anise from the suggestions menu were praised, as was the à la carte suckling pig with crunchy crackling.
One of a cluster of vibrant Portocolom eateries, HPC comes highly recommended for the careful presentation of its dishes, friendly, helpful service, and lovely location.
Tapas are available individually or as a combo of four with dessert for 16€. Wines on the annually updated list are reasonably priced.
