The bustling holiday resort of Puerto Alcúdia may seem an unlikely for a restaurant serving Michelin-starred cuisine, but the family-owned seasonal establishment Jardín has been recongnised by the famous red guide since 2012.
Chef Macarena de Castro was the first female on Mallorca to gain a Michelin star.
Jardín is an elegant contemporary dining space and Macarena puts her own exquisite signature on traditional Mallorcan and Mediterranean dishes, using the finest local ingredients.
The result is a blend of traditional and avant-garde haute cuisine. Jardín offers an exciting, well-balances tasting menu. In winter, Macarena and her team work in Uruguay.

It´s a very direct style: intense and free, in the sense of being creative.

I want them to taste Mallorca, to feel the island in the exact moment of the year.
What do you think makes a restaurant successful?
Regularity, honesty, and commitment.
Which chef or experience (travels) had the most influence on your own cooking?
My masters were Hilario Arbelaitz (Zuberoa), Manolo de la Osa (Las Rejas) and Julián Serrano (Picasso).
On a night off, where is your favourite place on Mallorca to eat?
There are many: Sa Roqueta, Ca na Toneta, Dins Santi Taura.
How do you try to achieve work/life balance?
Enjoy both a lot: my work in a team, as well my free time.
What are your thoughts about the restaurant scene on Mallorca?
It´s evident that it´s continuously improving – at a very good speed, year after year.
